Storyline
Four friends from a village in Punjab share a common dream to go to England. Their problem is that they have neither the visa nor the ticket. A soldier promises to take them to the land of their dreams. Synopsis
World War II created a significant labor shortage in England, prompting the country to recruit workers from India to fill the gaps in various sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing. This led to a large-scale migration of young individuals from Punjab seeking better opportunities in England. The desire for a better life in the UK became a prevailing aspiration among the youth. However, the enactment of the Commonwealth Immigration Act of 1962 marked the end of this migration wave, making it increasingly challenging for individuals to move to England legally. Despite the hurdles, the dream of immigrating to the UK persisted.
In present-day London, Many Gandhara, an elderly woman, flees from a hospital and seeks the help of immigration lawyer Pure Patel to obtain a visa to India. However, due to her past actions, securing an Indian visa proves to be a daunting task. Recognizing that only her former lover, Hardy Singh Dillon, can assist her, Many implores Pure to reconnect her with Hardy. In Punjab, an aged Hardy eagerly awaits Many's call after 25 years and agrees to help her return to India via the Dunk route, an illegal pathway due to visa restrictions. Many, along with her friends Buggy and Ball, embarks on a journey to Dubai to meet Hardy.
Twenty-five years earlier, in 1995, Many and her friends Buggy and Ball, residing in last, aspired to immigrate to London for a better life. Hindered by financial constraints and lack of education, they struggled to obtain visas through various means, including fraudulent agents. Hardy, indebted to Many's family for her brother's heroic act, offers to help her reach London in exchange for assistance. He begins to train Many in wrestling to fulfill the requirement for a sports visa. Despite setbacks and tragedies, including the death of their friend Sushi, they persist in their pursuit.
Arriving in London, they discover the harsh reality of illegal immigration, with Ball resorting to fabricating success to deceive his family. Traumatized by Sushi's demise, Hardy promises to help Many and Buggy reach London through the Dunk route. Their journey through perilous territories results in loss and danger, yet Hardy remains steadfast in protecting Many.
Upon reaching London, they realize the grim truth of illegal immigrant life, with Ball's facade crumbling and their living conditions starkly different from what they had imagined. Advised by Pure, Many reluctantly agrees to a sham marriage for citizenship, leading to a courtroom altercation and subsequent asylum claims.
